Official Terms and Conditions


1. Promotion

The Advantage One Credit Union Referral Program (the “Program”) is a promotion offered by Advantage One Credit Union (the “Credit Union”) whereby eligible Program Participants may receive a $100 Reward for referring a friend or family member to the Credit Union and/or being referred to the Credit Union by a friend or family member.  The following Official Terms and Conditions apply to all persons participating in the Program (“Program Participants”).


2.  Eligibility

Participation in the Program is limited to natural persons, who at the time of referral are age 18 years or older.


To make a referral offer, you must meet the eligibility requirements set forth above and be a current member in good standing with the Credit Union.  You must utilize the Referral Program to make Referral Offers during the Program Period.  Referral Offers made by other means, or Referral Offers made outside the Program Period are not eligible for Rewards.


To accept a Referral Offer, you must meet the eligibility requirements set forth above, and you must not be a current or former Credit Union member.  In addition, you must (a) live, work, worship or attend school in one of the following counties within the state of Michigan:  Clinton, Eaton, Genesee, Hillsdale, Ingham, Jackson, Lapeer, Lenewee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, Shiawassee, St. Clair, Washtenaw or Wayne; and (b) apply for, be approved and close on an Eligible Loan (as defined below) within 60 days of claiming a Referral Offer.


By participating in the Program, you are expressly agreeing to be bound by these Official Terms and Conditions.


3.  How to Make a Referral Offer

To make a Referral Offer, you must sign up for the Referral Program at www.myaocu.com/refer by providing us with your name, your date of birth and a valid email address. Within the program, send referral messages to your eligible friends through email, Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn You may make a Referral Offer only to friends and/or family members that (a) are 18 years of age or older; (b) are not existing or former Credit Union members; and (c) live, work, worship or attend school in one of the following counties within the state of Michigan:  Clinton, Eaton, Genesee, Hillsdale, Ingham, Jackson, Lapeer, Lenewee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, Shiawassee, St. Clair, Washtenaw or Wayne.


You may not make a Referral Offer to yourself.  You may not use false names, invite fictitious people, use multiple email addresses or accounts, impersonate another person, or provide false information. Fraudulent or unethical means of communication such as using bots, fictitious identities, fake emails, or scripts is also prohibited.  When you are communicating through a digital referral channel (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, your referral link, or email) you must not knowingly send a message to a friend who has indicated that they are not willing to accept such communications from you.  It is strictly prohibited to send spam or unsolicited emails to people that you do not personally know to collect referrals.  The Credit Union specifically reserves the right to terminate any Program Participant’s participation in the Program if it determines in its sole discretion that a Program Participant is engaging in this or other prohibited conduct, or is otherwise abusing the Program.


4.  How to Accept a Referral Offer

To accept a Referral Offer, you must claim the Referral Offer by signing up for the Referral Program at www.myaocu.com/refer within 60 days of Receipt of the Referral Offer. You must provide us with your name, date of birth and a valid email address.


Within 60 days of accepting the Referral Offer, you must successfully enroll as a member in the Credit Union, activate a savings account and make a minimum deposit of $5.00 into that account, and apply for, be approved for, and close on an Eligible Loan with the Credit Union.


You may not accept more than one Referral Offer.  If you receive multiple Referral Offers, you will receive a reward only with respect to the first Referral Offer you accepted.


5.  Eligible Loans

Eligible Loans are new and used vehicle loans (including boat, recreational and powersport vehicles), secured and unsecured personal loans.


The minimum loan amount in order to qualify for Rewards is $5,000.00.


Eligible Loans shall not include Visa credit cards, personal lines of credit, overdraft lines of credit, real estate and home equity loans and any and all existing loans a Program Participant has with the Credit Union.


All loan approval is determined by creditworthiness.


6.  Conditions of Participation in the Program

Program Participants agree to be bound by these Official Terms and Conditions and by any and all decisions of the Credit Union, which decisions shall be final and binding on all matters pertaining to the Program.


The Credit Union assumes no responsibility for lost, delayed, damaged and/or misdirected Referral Offers or other communications as a result of any failure of the website, including but not limited to, the technical malfunction of any computer online systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, and/or software.


The Credit Union reserves the right to disqualify Program Participants, void any Program Rewards, and/or cancel or suspend the Referral Program at any time, without notice, and without obligation to honor any offers and/or Rewards, if the Credit Union determines, in its sole and absolute discretion, that a Program Participant or other actor has (a) violated these Official Terms and Conditions; (b) made misrepresentations relative to the Program; (c) engaged in any fraudulent or prohibited conduct or activity; (d) is ineligible to participate in the Program; (e) has otherwise abused the Program; and/or (e) the administration, security or fairness of the Program has been compromised in any way.


The Credit Union reserves the right to cancel, terminate or modify the Program at any time if the Program is not capable of completion as planned for any reason, including, but not limited to, computer virus, tampering, unauthorized intervention, force majeure or technical failure of any kind or nature.


The Credit Union further reserves the right to amend these Official Terms and Conditions at any time. 


7.  Offers and Rewards

If both the person making the Referral Offer and the person accepting the Referral Offer meet all eligibility requirements and abide by these Official Terms and Conditions, each Program Participant will receive $100.00 by way of a credit to the Program Participant’s Credit Union savings account.  The credit will be made within 60 business days after referred Program Participant closes on his/her Eligible Loan.  In order to receive the reward, both the referring Program Participant and the referred Program Participant must be Credit Union members in good standing at that time the credit is made.  If the Referral Program is terminated for any reason, or if either Program Participant’s Credit Union account or relationship with the Credit Union is terminated for any reason prior to the crediting of the Rewards, the Rewards will be null and void.


The Credit Union may, in its sole discretion, introduce promotional offers that enable Program Participants to earn additional value for the completion of actions specified in the Referral Program during the Program Period. The Credit Union is not responsible for changes to, or the discontinuance of, any promotion or for any effect on the accrual of Rewards caused by changes to or the discontinuance of any such promotion.


All offers and/or Rewards are subject to eligibility verification and compliance with these Official Terms and Conditions. The Credit Union may withhold or refuse to grant offers and/or Rewards if it determines, in its sole discretion, that any Program Participant has obtained offers and/or Rewards in an illegal, fraudulent, or unethical manner, or if it determines that granting offers and/or Rewards and/or permitting a Program Participant to redeem them will expose the Credit Union to any liability or the possibility of any legal damages.


The Credit Union reserves the right not to honor offers and/or Rewards or disqualify any Program Participant from the Program if it determines, in its sole discretion, that fraudulent behavior or other unethical conduct has occurred in any way that compromises the fairness of the Program in any way.


8.  Communication

The Credit Union must be able to communicate with you using the email address you provided to participate in the Referral Program.  You agree that the Credit Union can send information to you at that email address.  You will be unable to participate in the Program if you unsubscribe or otherwise opt out of receiving emails from the Referral Program, or if we are unable to communicate with you via the email address you provided.


9.  Privacy

The Program requires that you submit personal information about yourself and/or persons whom you are referring to the Program.  All information submitted to us is collected in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which may be viewed by clicking here: https://www.myaocu.com/security-and-privacy/privacy-statement


10.  Indemnification

By participating in the Referral Program, all Program Participants agree to hold the Credit Union and its officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents harmless from any and all liability whatsoever in connection with the Program, including without limitation, legal claims, costs, injuries, losses or damages, demands or actions of any kind.


11.  Limitation of Liability

By participating in the Referral Program, you further agree that the Program and Rewards are provided “as is where is”. THERE ARE NO REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO STATUTORY WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS, WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, THIRD PARTIES RIGHTS, AND NONINFRINGEMENT OF PROPRIETARY RIGHTS. IN NO EVENT WILL THE CREDIT UNION BE LIABLE TO ANY PROGRAM PARTICIPANT FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR SPECIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING ANY LOST PROFITS OR LOST SAVINGS, EVEN IF IT HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY CLAIM BY ANY THIRD PARTY.


12.  Taxes and Tax Reporting

Program Participants are solely responsible for all federal, state and local taxes and any expenses associated with Rewards.  Advantage One Credit Union will report all deposits to the appropriate state and federal agencies as required as applicable by law. Program Participants must provide all information necessary for the Credit Union to make required tax reports.  The failure of a Program Participant to provide such information shall result in the forfeiting of the Rewards by the Program Participant.


13.  Compliance with Law

All issues and questions concerning the Program, these Official Terms and Conditions, the rights of Program Participants in connection with the Program, any dispute arising between the Credit Union and any Program Participant and/or any dispute concerning the administration of the Program shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the state of Michigan and applicable Federal law.
